The Stanbic Accelerator Programme 2024

This is an investment readiness program targeted at supporting business owners to acquire the necessary skills to drive their company’s growth and prepare SMEs to become bankable, competent in capital raising, strong and resilient, and drive economic growth including creating jobs. This program will allow SBIL to develop a credible pipeline for existing and potential investors.

In line with our group purpose “Uganda is our Home; We Drive Her Growth”, the mission of Stanbic Business Incubator Limited (SBIL) is to develop strong and resilient SMEs through tailored training programmes.
SBIL is therefore strategically aligning herself to the SEE Impact areas of job creation and enterprise growth implemented through the Enterprise Development Program.
SBIL’s programming in 2024 is intentionally skewed towards access to finance primarily through Stanbic Bank. SBIL is also cognisant of the growing affinity for debt-free financing amongst Ugandan businesses; the drive is towards equity and grant financing.

Who does the program target?

Small and Growing Businesses with high potential to grow and scale are invited to apply to receive hands-on training and coaching support. No cost is attached to qualifying applicants. Space is limited to only 30 participants for the 9-months intervention.

What is the Investment Readiness Program about? What makes it unique?

  • The Investment Ready Program is a 9-month intensive program for growth driven SGBs with a scalable, (proof-of-concept) solutions.
  • Pure impact focus: you will be part of a selected group of impact ventures and supported by impact-minded experts and investors.
  • Customised support: the program is designed for proof-of-concept stage ventures and offers personalised support.
  • Opportunity to attract follow-on funding: you will have a higher chance of qualifying for funding opportunities presented by the pool of funders SBIL has associated with.

Selection criteria

  • Operational for 2 years Uganda: evidence of historical performance of 24 months.
  • Existence of 2 years of consistent financial records
  • Have an annual turnover of UGX 100,000,000
  • Companies in the following sectors: transport, construction, health and education, professional services, hotels &food, agriculture, trade and energy
  • Demonstrable financing gap a fundraising need of more than USD 50,000(Are actively looking for funds? How much and what type?)
  • Have at least 2 full time staff in addition to the founder
