The WE4D Green Programme

The WE4D Programme

WE4D is implementing a project titled Green Businesses and Jobs for the Green Transformation in collaboration with Stanbic Business Incubator Limited (SBIL) in Uganda. This project aims to foster the growth of green/greening women-led micro and small enterprises in Uganda through the provision of business training, business coaching and access to finance to the participating enterprises.

About the WE4D Programme

The WE4D Programme is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in partnership with the European Union and Norway.
It is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development (MGLSD), which serves as the lead government partner.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Female led businesses or those that are male led but with majority female employees.
  • Businesses that employ majority women
  • Must be legally registered and operational in Uganda; with a
  • Minimum of 2 years in operation: evidence of historical performance at any stage of the value chain.
  • Have an annual turnover of at least UGX 50m over the past 2 years.
  • Existence of financial records
  • Companies must operate in the sectors of: Sustainable agriculture/Agro-processing, Renewable energy, Circular economy & Waste management.
  • Must be seeking investment to induce business transformation and growth.
  • At least 2 full time staff.
  • Verified Bank statement for the last 12 months.
